Hi there,
The way to avoid having people follow your blog would be to set your site as private:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/When you set a site to private, anyone who followed your site while it was public will no longer get updates on your site.
Once your site is set to private, just let me know if you’d like to have any of the followers removed, and I can take care of that for you.
If you have any questions, just let me know how I can help.

Thanks for the response.
Making the site private is probably not practical as most of my pages are for college courses.
Can I still remove followers without making the site private (including the e-mail followers)?

Hi again,
So, there isn’t an option to remove followers, as a public site allows full access to the content by visiting the site directly, or by subscribing to the RSS feed.
I could remove the followers for you, however they could simply follow the site again right after I did so.
With a private site, you get to invite only the people (students/staff) you want to the site:

If you need anything else, please let me know.

Go ahead and remove all of the followers.
I began this inquiry because of the most recent follower:
Don Charisma

Did you want to remove the followers from doncharisma.org? because then only the blog owner (doncharisma) can make this request.
Looking forward to your reply.

No need to remove followers from doncharisma.org. That is not my blog. The other Happiness engineer removed the followers from my blog.
