  Is there a way to allow viewers to sign up to become followers via email? Is there some type of icon or option I can include on my site?

  Hey sheprayedforme,

  There is a way to do it with RSS feeds and emails tools such as Mailchimp, check out this article: https://en.support.wordpress.com/subscriptions-and-newsletters/
