Followers are not getting my blogs, why?

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note S8 tablet. I’ve requested several of my friends to view my blog privately. The have accepted the invite. I’ve blogged several entries, but they are not getting my blogs. What do I need to check in my setup to assure that I set it up correctly.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Will you please provide a couple of usernames for those WordPress.com bloggers who did not receive the emails as well as a couple of email addresses for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts? The software will redact ie. HIDE the email addresses so only Staff can see them. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I have over 43 followers. I’m pretty sure that the list below are also not WordPress.com bloggers.

    Hope this helps.

Just thought I’d mentioned that I am also sending the blog to my own email address and I can view it fine.
(email visible only to moderators and staff)
I suspect it’s something to do with my setup.

  • Hi there!

I can see that you’ve only recently set your blog to private. Please bear in mind that invited users prior to that will not receive any updates from your blog unless they are invited again.

For more on this, please read our support pages:

Let me know if you had other questions or concerns. Thanks!

    Hello Druesome,
I requested an invite from one of my followers as per your suggestion. She accepted the invite, but she was requested from WordPress to input a userid and a password. Is this her email userid and password or WordPress? Is this the only way my followers will be able to view my blogs? Is there something that I can do at my end so that they can bypass the userid and password.
    Thanks for your help

  • Hi!

Unfortunately, only registered users that are invited can have access to your private blog. The purpose of a private blog is to share it only to a select group of people. Without asking for registration, anyone will be able to view it without your permission.

There’s no other way around it I’m afraid. Sorry about that!

    Hello Druesome,
Unfortunately I have many followers that are not sure what their passwords are. What would you recommend I do? How do I remove my blog from being “private “? Will this help my followers to view my blogs without their userid and passwords?

  • Hello again!

As many of your followers follow your blog via email, they most likely did not have to register to receive updates from you. The easiest workaround would be to set your blog back to public. You can do this via Settings -> Reading in your blog dashboard:

    http://thehardingscruiseadventures2014.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

Under “Site Visibility”, select “Allow search engines to index this site” and click the blue “Save Changes” button below.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Your followers should begin receiving updates from you as you publish new posts. If they don’t, please don’t hesitate to let me know so I can help you further. Good luck!

    Hey Druesome,
It worked. Thanks for your help.

However, I accidentally deleted the wrong post. I made a new one and it shows as “No posts yet. Why not create one?”. It also shows “Nothing found”. I can’t view it. The tittle is Home for the 38 days. Can you help me post it?

    Hi there,

I see that you created a new page, which you can find under Pages > All Pages in your dashboard. However, pages are different from posts. You can add new posts from Posts > Add New in your dashboard or from the new post page at WordPress.com here:

    http://wordpress.com/post/
