Followers are not updated

I get notifications of new people following me but within a few minutes/hours they drop down to 416 followers.This has been happening for around a month. I had taken help earlier as well and that time I was told that it happened because I changed my domain name. This hasn’t changed since then. Why is my follower count not getting updated?

These are likely spam followers. From time to time, WordPress.com purges them from the community/system.
I had taken help earlier as well and that time I was told that it happened because I changed my domain name.
When you changed your domain, did you request for Staff to migrate your followers from the old site to the new site ?
If you did not, there might still be time to make a request now.
Can you tell us your old site url and confirm that you want to migrate its followers to theblackrosewrites.wordpress.com ?Let us know if you have more questions.

Are the spam followers removed every few hours? This has been going on for more than a month now. Everyday the followers grow from 416 to 420+ and drop down again.
Moreover, before I changed the domain name it was 900+
The old domain name was http://www.malvikaavyam.wordpress.com

I do see your follower count is above the 416 mark so it does appear that your audience is growing! As others mentioned, if you’re seeing a slight decrease in followers it likely is due to our ongoing spam and abuse measures.
The other thing to note is that followers may unfollow your blog at any time. Individuals unsubscribing may account for some of the drop you are seeing as well.

Hey, the followers dropped to 416 again in the morning today.
The problem does not seem to have been resolved. -

It looks like the Reader has two different feeds for your site with two different follower counts, which might explain what’s going on here:

This was most likely caused by your site’s address change about four months ago. I’ve asked our Reader team to take a look to see if they can fix this. I’ll let you know once I hear back from them.

This should be fixed now. You might need to clear your browser cache and cookies for the changes to take effect.

I have cleared the browser cache and cookies. Now the number of followers is 418, have the followers of the feed with lower number of followers been deleted?

No followers were deleted, no. One link was just showing the wrong data, and that was causing the count to appear to go up and down while in fact it was not changing significantly at all.
