followers can't follow

I’m trying to find out why people who have submitted their email to follow my blog haven’t been notified by email that they are following my blog. I have also not been notified that they are following. How can I correct thi?

When someone follows your site, each time you publish new content on your blog they receive an update in their Reader, via email, or both depending on their settings.

Is it possible that these users don’t have email alerts enabled? It may also be worth taking a look at the support page above for the small troubleshooting section at the bottom of the page.
As for your alerts, can you confirmed that you’re setup to receive these notifications (and whether you’re set to receive them only on WordPress or also via email)?
You will also receive notifications about activity on your blogs, such as:
Likes and comments on your posts
Comments held for moderation
New followers for your blogsYou can change your activity notification preferences on the Notifications Settings page.

One follower got through and I received notification. My site has one email follower. Another person tried twice to become an email follower and was unsuccessful. Neither did I receive notification of her attempts to follow. My alerts are setup. What should I tell that person to do?

Thank you for confirming that. It sounds like we know both features work (following your blog and you receiving notifications). There might be an issues with how the other person is attempting to follow your blog, or an issue with their browser or email.
Are they using their email address alone or their WordPress account to follow your blog?
You can make sure that they’re following your blog correctly, as opposed to following a just the comments on a post.
