Followers email addresses

Some members/followers of my new blog for a family history group are not experienced computer users and wary of signing up with their email addresses. I want to be able to reassure them that their details are not passed on to third parties and are not visible anywhere.
As a new user Im still learning the Dashboard – do i see the addresses of Followers? How can WordPress assure Followers that addresses are kept secure and not passed on etc.

You cannot see the email addresses of followers, no. However, you do get shown the emails of people who leave comments if your comment settings require them to be logged in when commenting (this is the recommended setting. You can change it so anyone can comment without logging in or providing their email, but this can also lead to an increase in spam comments.) Even so, only the administrator of the blog will see the email addresses. No other user will be able to see it and WordPress won’t give it to third parties either unless it’s a legal issue. http://en.support.wordpress.com/private-user-data/

If you require them to be logged in, then they will need to get a WordPress.COM account to comment. If you have computer challenged visitors this can be a problem
I don’t require anyone to be logged in but I set the comments to require moderation
