Followers Likers, but no visitors??
-
This morning I checked my blogs stats, and I’ve seen something strange:
* “soqquadrissimo.wordpress.com had 1 more follower and a post had 1 like
* falsenonenull.wordpress.com has 1 like for a post
* none of them had new visits todayIs there some way to follow a blog or like a post without visiting it? I don’t think (in this case I hit a bug). But if there is a way… well, I think that this should not be possible, because if I like something I didn’t read, I will just confuse the author, the visitors, wordpress.com team, and everyone! :)
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It is possible to read posts, like and follow blogs all from the Reader, without visiting the actual site.
-
So, even if I use the “more” tag, the reader contains the whole post? And there is no way to know how many people read my posts from the reader?
-
No, the Reader doesn’t show the whole post, but you have now learned an important lesson, and that is that people very rarely actually read a post, they only click ‘like’ so that their own Gravatar is on display everywhere. If someone clicks on your post to read the whole thing then it will show on your blog as a visit.
-
I suspected that. But even people I don’t know seems to do that. Why? I think that, even if I spent hours or days or weeks clicking all “likes” I see, this strategy wouldn’t help me to get a single visit :)
If A agrees with something B said, it is not a logical reason for B to visit A’s blog :) -
Likes are not page views. In fact, likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats

I’d also like to add that limiting your blog promotion focus to only gaining traffic from the WordPress.com Topics pages is not a good strategy. When it comes to building a successful blog social networking is critical and social networking is strictly give to get. It’s commenting, not clicking “like” buttons that is the most effective means of securing traffic to your own blog. If you are interested in promoting your blog, then take a look at this thread:
