Followers list

To Macmanx, I’m hoping this will resolve the issue once and for all. As you said, the number on the readers section is correct – 68 + 3 = 71. Again, when I log onto the website, I see the home page and below it the word stats. I click it and go the page that says stats and insight. Then I clicked the word followers to the right, which has the number 71 (the correct number) and the next screen with the list of followers appears. The number there is 64 not 68. Is that number incorrect? On the readers side, 68 + 3 = 71 is correct. Can you explain the discrepancy between the two numbers?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • The stats cache does not refresh in real-time, it refreshes every 24 hours, so there may be some discrepancies.

You can always see the correct number at https://wordpress.com/people

Thank you for your help. Been trying to figure out how to do this in this manner. I hope this message will be received. Been having a difficult time navigating this. You said that the 64 will refresh to 68, the correct number. That’s what I been hoping will happen. Thank you again for your assistance.

  • Yep, currently the correct number is 71 total: 68 WordPress.com Followers + 3 email subscribers.

You can always see the correct number at https://wordpress.com/people

Is there another way for me to see the four that are misisng from my list on the page that comes after the folllowers? I’m talking about when I click the word followers the list appears on the next screen. Each time I count the list, it comes up to 64 and not 68. There are four names not on the list. Is there a reason for that?

  • Hi there,

I can confirm what you’re seeing on your end:

    https://wordpress.com/people/followers/wfeducate.wordpress.com shows 64 WordPress.com followers:

Meanwhile, https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/wfeducate.wordpress.com shows your followers as 68:

Our database currently shows 71 total followers for your site, and the Reader feed for your site at https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/23277897 also shows 68 followers, so that count is definitely correct:

I have no idea why the People page only lists 64, though.

Thank you so much for your assistance. I’m glad you were able to find where I was looking. I’ll update my followers list on my computer file later today. Again, I thank you for your assistance.

I think it could be some sort of technical issue that causing the number to be incorrect on my side on the list. The KokkieH follower is not yet on the list. Should it be there?

The KokkieH follower is not yet on the list. Should it be there?

They followed to test and unfollowed, so they won’t be in your followers list at this time.

Since you only have 60+ followers, I decided to take the list you see in your dashboard and compare it to the list we have on the backend for your site.

It turns out there were four followers who have since deleted their WordPress.com user accounts. When someone opts to delete their user account, it should automatically unsubscribe them from any sites they’re following – but for some reason it didn’t happen in these four specific accounts.

I’ve since removed them from the backend so your count should accurately reflect 64 followers now.

    Hope that clarifies things!

Thank you so much for your help. I kept wondering about it because each time it will always say 64 and not 68. Again, thank you. I hope this will solve this issue for both of us. Have a good day.
