Followers MIA

This is really a housekeeping question, but it is one aspect of using free WordPress that I find frustrating and I think many using this site probably encounter it. A portion of the people who have ‘followed’ my blog, some since it’s inception, never engage with my blog–many never have in fact, they are simply the blogs/bloggers that like and follow everyone.
Working from my list of followers, I can see by visiting their blogs that they haven’t posted in years, have not removed their content or deleted their blogs, and I assume have simply disappeared into the blogging ether. I want these followers, who really aren’t, removed.
As I have never found a real answer to this issue in the forums, is it safe to assume that, as a ‘free’ user, I am simply stuck with this laundry list of followers who really don’t follow at all, and I will have to continue to see them in my list?
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I know exactly what you mean. There are those who mass follow and mass like and mass share, who never ever actually submit a comment to a post.

Yes, we are all stuck with “a laundry list” because we cannot block or delete followers.

Thanks timethief, I suspected as much. Oh well…

    Oh well, indeed … :(

I’m not impressed with the fact that there is no reliable means of managing followers and we cannot rely on the numbers we see. I’d like to manage my followers list by keeping it up to date so I can have some confidence in the numbers of followers reflected in my site stats.

That’s a great post. It seems as if WordPress isn’t interested in listening to it’s free bloggers and their ideas/needs. I’ve always been happy with WP, except for this non-feature.

I have other posts that are on some features and functions that are in sad need of enhancement. However, I decided not renew my domain mapping and my no-ads upgrades on either of my blogs, and to simply throw in the towel when the upgrades are due to be renewed.
