Followers Still Not Receiving Updates in Their Readers
-
Hi, can someone please assist? I’ve been posting this query in both the Premium Forum and Support with no response….
My followers suddenly stopped receiving blog updates in their Readers. This happened about 2-3 weeks ago (curiously timed when my blog was kindly in the Recommended Blogs, but who knows).
No changes were made on my end. I’ve posed this question a few times in this forum and to Support with no luck and/or response. My blog’s a bit dead-in-the-water until someone can help with this glitch.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear that your followers are having problems with seeing your site!
Is this an issue where all of your followers are reporting this problem? Or is it the newer ones that you mentioned since you were profiled (and congratulations on that!)?
I look forward to hearing back and in the mean time I’ve added myself to your blog to see if I can see the same issue!

Ah, thanks for adding me… I haven’t posted, due to this problem — but I will do so now!
Some people (like myself) rely on the email updates alone, so the only people who have commented are those who rely on the Reader for their updates — which appear to be many. And no, it’s all the older followers who alerted me to this issue….
Thanks, will get a post up in the next few minutes, to see if it’s still glitchy.

Hi there,
Thanks so much for posting! I definitely see what you’re talking about! I’ve kicked this up to some of our developers to see what they can do about it. As soon as I have an answer to all of this, I will give you an update.

Thanks…. I’m a bit dead-in-the-water with most of the followers, since they rely on their Reader.
As mentioned, it seemed to have happened at the same time I was placed in the Recommended Blogs. Not sure if it’s a coincidence, but wanted to mention just in case.

Hiya,
Thanks! I actually included that in case something with the publicity caused the issue. Right now it doesn’t look like it, but I wanted to make sure. The developers are already discussing it, so hopefully something will come out of it soon!

Hi there!
OK, you’re all set! One of your posts (It’s Florida Week for the Animals!) has some corrupt characters in it, which is what was causing this entire mess. To fix it, I have set the post back to Draft form and then waited and eventually posts started showing up (to make them all appear immediately I unfollowed and then refollowed your site and they were all there!).
If you really would like that article to be on your site, you can recreate it, but I strongly suggest that you not copy paste anything. Instead you should re-type the entire thing to make sure that no corrupt characters sneak back in!
Hope you have a great week!

WOW… OK, thanks so much for your help! I’ll look for that corrupt code / characters in the post — or, like you say, recreate it.
Thanks so much for your help! Just curious, will these past posts now populate in the subscribers’ readers? Or only new ones…?
-
The older ones should slowly creep in. They did for me! I don’t know what kind of relationship you have with your readers, but it might be worth a post saying “If you really want to see what you’ve been missing, you might want to unfollow and refollow”
By the way, the only thing you have to do to do that is click the “Following” button and then click it again.

Hi there,
Just wanted to give you a quick follow up and let you know that I went ahead and removed the corrupted character for you. I’ve kept that post as a draft for now, but you should be able to just go ahead and mark it as published again without needing to further modify it. It shouldn’t break your feed anymore, either :)
Hope that helps and please let us know if there’s anything else we can do!
