Followers/Contact Info
-
Hi, I created a wordpress.org site, but I’m switching to another site. I have 60 followers and I’d like to put my following number back on my blog at wordpress.com. How can I change the number of my followers and put them back on my blog? Right now, it’s showing only 3 because the rest moved to my website.
Also, how do I add an email address for my Contact button without showing my email address. Something they can hit and it would come to my email address, or do I just show my email address on my site?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Happy to do this for you. Could you confirm the WordPress.com site you would like the followers moved to? I assume they’re moving from your self-hosted site authordeberickson.org.
Also, how do I add an email address for my Contact button without showing my email address. Something they can hit and it would come to my email address, or do I just show my email address on my site?
Are you referring to a contact form like the ones shown here?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
If so, you’re seeing your email address in the email field because you’re logged into WordPress.com. Visitors will either A) see their email address if they’re logged into WordPress.com or B) see a blank field. You can test this by logging out of your account and checking out the form.
If you’re referring to something different, please let me know!

Hi, yes, I’d like to move them from authordeberickson.org back to daericks.wordpress.com. I’m going with another website, but I’m keeping my blog site at WP.com.
As far as the contact form, yes, I’d like to be able to keep track of the followers and create an email list.
Also, I downloaded burn feeder on my .com site, but I don’t know if this is the best way to go as far as if someone wants to contact me via email. Would they just do this on the contact form? I downloaded Feeburner but I haven’t finished the process yet. I’d like people to be able to contact me, but I don’t want to publicize my email address on my blog.
So, I need help with these three things. Thanks so much!

@jeremeylduvall – will be notified that you posted back into the thread that he is helping with – it’s an automated system for the staff – just might not be his time window to reply to forum questions – keep the faith and he will get back to you

Done! You can see your new subscribers here:

As far as the contact form, yes, I’d like to be able to keep track of the followers and create an email list.
You can see your current subscribers from the link above. For email subscribers (those that subscribe through email, not through WordPress.com), you can export their email addresses. WordPress.com subscribers cannot be exported to a CSV to obtain their emails.
If you’re looking to build an email list that you can email as a group outside of just when you publish to your blog, I would recommend using a service like Mailchimp. This way, you can build a separate email list and email them whenever you would like. You can read more here:
Once you setup your account, you could put a link to your newsletter on your sidebar as explained here:
http://kb.mailchimp.com/lists/signup-forms/share-your-signup-form#Signup-form-URL
Is that more along the lines of what you’re looking for?
Also, I downloaded burn feeder on my .com site, but I don’t know if this is the best way to go as far as if someone wants to contact me via email. Would they just do this on the contact form? The best and easiest way to do that would be through the Contact Form method described here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/
This way, readers can submit their questions or comments through the contact form, and we’ll automatically forward those questions/comments to you through email. As mentioned previously, when you’re logged into your WordPress.com account, we pre-fill the form with your details. However, readers will either see their contact information (if they’re logged in) or they’ll see blank fields.

Hi! I think you’ve covered my questions. Thank you so much. I’ll check the things out that you suggested and if I have any more questions, I’ll get back with you.
Oops! There was one more thing. On my front page under “blog stats” it states 1,448. But when I go into the back end, it says 12,345 and it’s not in the box.
Thanks so much! I appreciate it~

The 1,448 seems to match the number on your stats page here:
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?unit=1&blog=16466766
Could you point me to the URL where you’re seeing the 12,345?
-
Well, I’d rather not publicize it unless there’s no harm to it, but if you go into my dashboard to Widgets and open the ‘blog stats’, this is where I’m seeing this number instead of the other one.
Can you get in?
-
Ah – thanks for clarifying! The 12,345 number is just a random number used to help you setup the widget. Every blog will see that number. Here’s how it appears on my test blog for example:
It just gives you an example of how the widget will appear. Your actual stat numbers will be reflected on the blog once you add the widget.
