Following advice in forums, but option to renew domain not found
-
One year ago, I registered the domain ‘oneforjesus.net’ via WordPress.com by signing up for the a premium package. However, I soon realized I needed more flexibility and moved my site to self-hosting. The URL, however, was still registered at WordPress.com, so I left it there and set up my self-hosted site to use the WordPress.com name servers.
Now my URL is up for renewal (in four days). I found this article (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/renew-domain-without-renewing-premium-plan?replies=2) which states ‘Once your plan is cancelled you can renew the domain separately.’ However, I cannot find any way to do this on the site. I have looked at:
– https://wordpress.com/me/billing (only links to ‘Purchases’)
– https://wordpress.com/purchases (only ‘upgrade to premium’ option)
– https://wordpress.com/domains/www.oneforjesus.net (says ‘Domains are not available for this site. You can only purchase domains for sites hosted on WordPress.com at this time.’)Can I please get some help with domain renewal? Do I need to upgrade to premium and then cancel it all over again in order to renew the domain? Please advise.

Please give it another try, you should be able to renew your domain now.
Let me know if you have any trouble.

Perfect! I was able to go back to https://wordpress.com/purchases, and this time it offered me the option to renew the domain, and I was able to complete the renewal with no problems. Thank you for whatever you changed. :-)
