Following Blog Widget
-
Hi!
I am starting a website, and although it’s not a blog, I would like to have “subscribers” or “followers” by collecting emails. I saw that you can add this option in your widgets, as explained here : https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/follow-blog-widget/ .
However, it doesn’t say anything about the owner of the website being able to collect the actual emails. Would it be possible to see a list of people that have entered their email? I have the personal plan, and I really do not want to upgrade to the Business one and use a plugin, so I’m trying to find a solution.
Thank you! -
Hi there, the follow blog/site widget will allow site visitors to follow your site. Whether you see their email address depends on whether they are logged in to their WPcom account or not, or don’t have one when they click to follow.
If they are logged in with their WPcom account, you’ll see those followers in your Followers tab under Manage>People. However, because of privacy, you won’t see their email address. If they don’t have a WPcom account or are not logged in when they follow your site, their email address will be available under Manage>People>Email followers.
Also, as you mentioned you have the Personal plan, you are eligible for direct support via LiveChat (when available) and email when you post at https://wordpress.com/help/contact
