Following Blogs

I go to a fairly new blog, and instead of the follow blog widget giving me a place to put my email, it just says “follow blog” and it doesn’t work. I click it, but it doesn’t send me emails.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Can you link me to the site you’re trying to follow?

The site is zacharypierpont.wordpress.com- My cousin’s blog. Thank you!!!

This is exactly the problem I want to have.

I’ve just started using WP and set up a new website. I have a small number of followers who have ‘subscribed’ to new posts through the WP follow button and through the widget in the menu (for non-WP readers).

However, I am continuing to develop the site by publishing archival material. I don’t want followers to receive email notices for all these republished, older works—just for the new material.

How can I turn off the email notification for the publication of archival posts?

@levipierpont – I see a Follow Blog widget with a button that says “Count me in” or the Follow button in the admin bar at the top of the page. Is one of these what you were referring to?

@sjwsentinel – The only time we don’t send email notifications to your followers is when your site is private. You could set your site private when you publish those and make it public again right after. Other than that, there’s no other way to do what you’re describing.

OK, thanks. That’s very helpful. I had noticed that the notifications were sent immediately, so that method would work, I think.
