Following Widget & Time Stamp
-
Why doesn’t anything show up under blogs I’m following widget? It lets me add the widget fine, but on my pg where it should list them, it just says I’m not following any blogs. I am though! They show up in my reader and says I’m following them. Any one else had this problem or know how to help?
Also, how do I add a time stamp to all my posts? Under settings, then general I have selected the correct way I want it displayed, my time zone, etc but when I post there is only the date at the top. I would like for it to display the time at the bottom (or even next to the date if it has to be there). How do I do that?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Time stamps are theme-specific, i.e. some themes display them, some don’t. The only way to get around that (if you don’t want to change your theme) is to buy the Custom Design upgrade and then find out the CSS code to make the time stamp display. I don’t know which themes automatically display time stamps.
If you just added the “Blogs I Follow” widget it might not display anything, but it should start showing blog as soon as you start following new blogs. (I’m speaking from personal experience here – there’s nothing about that in the support doc.)

Thank you! How much is the Custom design upgrade or does that vary? That’s kind of dumb. So if you’ve already followed blogs you’d have to unfollow them and then re-follow them for them to show up there? Thanks for the info! :)

The custom design upgrade is purchased per blog and renewable annually. You can get complete information on what it is and how it works at these links:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/Unfollowing and refollowing blogs should make them appear in the widget, but keep in mind it can display only a limited number of blogs and only displays those you followed most recently. If you want a list of all the blogs you follow to appear setting up a blogroll might be a better option: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/blogs-i-follow-widget/

I don’t follow a lot of blogs and it allows up to 20 and I have much less than that. Unfollowing and refollowing did not make them show up. I tried to do the blogroll by adding the Links widget but it just put a bunch of weird links there. Ugh!

You cannot just add the links widget. If you do it will only show the default WordPress links. You first have to set up your blogroll by adding your own links, as described in the support doc.
Only other thing I can think of that might work with the Blogs I Follow widget is to clear your browser cache and cookies. I should actually have suggested that first. You can find instructions for doing that in the most popular browsers here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

I read the links you shared, but I don’t see anywhere saying how to manually enter links. There is a drop down menu under “Select Links Category”, a drop down menu under “Sort by” and a few things I can check or uncheck. So where am I supposed to put them in at?
-
You add them from the Links ->Add New in the dashboard menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/add-a-blogroll-link/

Thanks! I was able to add the links, make a category and name it what I want, and then add the widget. Finally! :) Thanks for your help!
So without paying the $30 a year there is no way to add a time stamp to my theme? My theme is “Dusk to Dawn”.

How do I change the position of a sidebar and move it up on my page. I just added a follow me on twitter, but it’s on the very, very bottom of the screen.
Thanks for your help

@lifebeyondmywindow
You can reposition the widgets in your sidebar by going to Appearance ->Widgets and the simply dragging and dropping it on a different position where you want it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#adding-widgetsI also notice your widget is not displaying your tweets, so you might have not set it up correctly. Make sure that for the Twitter ID you used ONLY the number, not the entire code generated by Twitter. You can check the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/
