Follows Not Counting On Home Page

Lately I’ve as I’ve noticed new people following my blog, I’ve noticed the number of followers does not change. For example, one night I noticed say 701 followers, and the next day there were still 701 followers and as I’m sitting on WP, I notice other blogs following my blog. As my number of follows were increasing on my “list”, the number of followers on my Home page was NOT increasing. It just stayed at 701 no matter how many people followed. I am having the same problem again today. It’s at 741 like it was last night and this morning but as more followers join—the number stays at 741. Is there a glitch in WordPress that is being worked on? Thanks for any help.
