Font by Typekit – slow loading, if it loads all. Please advise!

Hey guys, thanks in advance to anyone who reads this and replies.
Several months ago I used the Typekit settings on the WordPress.com dashboard of my blog/website to set all headings to the Adelle font. I am very happy with the result, however I have noticed that this font takes longer to load than the rest of the website. Also, recently the font won’t load at times and the old font will show instead – refreshing the page brings back the Adelle font.
Is there any way to make sure that Typekit doesn’t slow down/hang my website whilst loading Adelle, and ensure that Adelle always loads successfully? Or is there even a way to edit the CSS to show Adelle so I don’t have to use Typekit at all?
Any advice regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Your browser actually contacts the typekit servers and then they serve the fonts directly to your browser, so typically when you see this it is because the typekit servers are overloaded, having issues, or there is an issue on the internet somewhere between your browser and the typekit servers. Oh and add in another one: possibly there are issues with the invisible proxy servers at your ISP and they are not pulling the fonts, are over loaded or something like that.

Thanks for the info thesacredpath, very informative. Lately, this seems to be happening all the time (for both myself and other visitors to my site). Is there perhaps a way to implement this font via CSS so I can bypass using Typekit entirely?

No, not really. Fonts on web pages typically are gotten from the fonts installed on the visitor’s computer. If the font isn’t installed, then the browser will substitute.
I’m not sure if the large influx of people from wordpress.com that are using typekit has perhaps overwhelmed them a little or what, but I’ve seen this too on sites here using typekit fonts. I look at the site and no custom fonts. I refresh or go to another page and there are the fonts.
I will tag this thread for staff attention and perhaps there is a way they can look into things with typekit.
