i havent made a post for abt 3wks. it has been set on the default since i began working w wp.com i sign in yesterday & go to begin a post to find the font has changed by itself and there is no way to set it back how it was. i know i dont have to do anything w css or purchase anything, because as i said it has been set on default this whole time until recently, and i dont want to go w what it is now because it will force me to change all 30+ posts which i refuse to do.

have they done anything to the site recently, because i did not do this, i just want it back how it was and shouldnt have to pay anything to get that done, that is a basic function that i had even before i moved my domain here, which now costs me, so i am already giving money to wp.com. pls help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The Hero theme font defined in the theme is depicted here https://herodemo.wordpress.com/

If you copied and pasted text and did not use the correct icon in the Visual editor you could have caused a font change by doing that.

If you are copying and pasting from a word processing document like Microsoft WORD please read this https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=3

Will you please be sure this setting is enabled? > Settings > Writing
“ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.” Then edit your more recent post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “Update Post.” Check your blog and see if it is back to normal.

i didnt copy & paste anything, i just started entering text in a post i was setting up, i never actually posted anything. i dont want to because the text will be screwed up. and even when i have copy n pasted previously, i never used the toolbar above i simply used my mouse and it always went perfectly, so that has nothing to do w it.

i did however check the settings tab as you suggested and it did need to be turned on. i saved it, then since i never posted fully yet w this different font, i previewed, and it looks ok this time. i have no idea how that could have gotten changed, if that tab this is under was an actual button it would have been dusty i so rarely use it. thank you.

Actually I was wrong, the only thing that is ok is the fact that when i preview my post the font is the same as others. i still have the font i enter writing the actual post, before post, not only very different than how it was before whatever happened, i also cannot adjust the size of the font to how it was when writing, or place pictures correctly. all of these things have been set and working just fine the nearly 3yrs i have been using wp.com, never had to touch them. something someone did on the website end screwed things up. it certainly wasnt me as i said. up to my last post things have been golden. after it is different story.

    keelaunaw,

Please see the following two recent, related, and relevant threads,

    1. Font Size Changed in Classic Editor Visual View, begun 12 November 2014, and

    2. My “Edit Post” page looks different (text too large), begun on 13 November

After originally claiming there was no issue, WordPress staff finally relented to the persistence of members who refused to accept that they were just imagining a dramatic change occurred, and had “devs” look into the matter. Shortly afterward, Staff person shawnajroberts reported the following on 19 November:

Thanks for being persistent about this everyone. I pinged a developer to take a look and see if they noticed something I couldn’t. He was able to dig in and found a core merge that changed the default editor styling from a set font size to 100%, which would obviously cause quite a jump for some users.

The developers are still discussing it, but I’ll let you all know as soon as I hear back from them.

The issue was fixed that night or early the next morning.

All was well until a few days later (23rd perhaps) the post editor text was again enlarged by roughly 20%. And WordPress staff was back to arguing that there had been no change and implying that all of the good folks who noticed the dramatic change on or about 12 November must be delusional.

Now it’s back to normal again. Not sure when it was corrected the second time, but I’m hoping they’ll leave it alone.

Correction: It’s not back to normal. Guess I’m getting used to the change now. The post editor text is still overlarge, in my estimate 15-20+% larger than it was prior to 12 November.

    Hi everyone,

I’m trying to breakdown the issue here. @keelaunaw – just to be clear, you’re experiencing a different font when you’re in the Dashboard (grimcrotch.wordpress.com) editing a post. Is that correct?
