Font changes for a few seconds
-
I discovered something that may help: when I said that ‘green bar’ comes up, as if it’s loading something, I also noticed some wording next to it, that comes up for a milli-second before disappearing. This happens every time I move to a new page, but won’t actually begin until I mouse over text. So I videotaped the wording and played it back frame-by-frame:
Waiting for https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/?notes_iframe.
Hopefully that gives you a clue as to what may be going on. Also, the text changes to that wingding-type symbol font when I first mouse over the text, then over the header photo!
If this gets to be too time consuming for you, please abandon it!

I’ll work on it…the thing only stays up for a fraction of a second, so it may take me a while…or I might get lucky after just a couple of tries. When I get it, how should I send the image to you?

If you post it into your media library and let me know which blog, I can go in and take a look.
-
Okay, I’ll take care of that right now. In case you’re reading this immediately, give me five minutes to take care of it!
You can see it on the bottom left side of the screen, above the green ‘Start’ button. My site is: http://statispro1978replay.wordpress.com/
Thanks! Todd

Thank you for the screenshot!
I totally thought the fonts in the screenshot would look different from the live site, but they look the same to me! Wel, I do see that the browser status bar note in your screenshot seems to be loading something to do with the notifications. I also see that you have waiting notifications in the admin bar. If you clear those out and refresh the page, does the problem go away?
-
A question: if I clear the notifications, does that eliminate the actual comments and such from my site? Is there a certain way to clear them? Comments seem to be clear-able, but ‘Likes’ don’t seem to have that option!
Also, the screenshot you looked at showed the screen at the split-second that the little message was captured…the fonts change a split-second later! If you go back to my Media Library, I’ve added two more screen shots: one shows the ‘momentary’ font that I see for 3-10 seconds, the other shows the ‘wingding’ font that occurs when I mouse over the header photo.

Nope, reading notifications only affects notifications and not the actual comments unless you decide to do something to them separately.
Clearing notifications may not help—it’s a guess on my part to check it because that’s what’s referenced in the status bar of your screenshot.

You can go to https://wordpress.com/#!/notifications/ and click on each one with a blue dot next to it. Once they have all been viewed, the orange color in the notifications box will go away.

Thanks! I’m going to get a 2nd opinion about this because I’m really not sure what might be causing it. In the mean time, could you verify your operating system and browser version for me?
-
Hey, sorry for the delayed response! My operating system is Windows XP, and my browser is Internet Explorer 8.
-
Is there any chance you can upgrade to the latest stable version of Internet Explorer? See http://browsehappy.com/
-
I just went to the link you supplied (thank you, by the way!), and was told that for XP, there are no more updated versions for me to choose from! However, the note suggested I try a new browser; my friend has been pushing me to switch to Mozilla Firefox…any thoughts? I guess it couldn’t hurt, right?
-
I’m on Widows XP too and cannot upgrade to IE9 but I could care less as I use Firefox and have been doing so for years. Why not try Firefox 15?
