Font colors are different

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

In some of my blog posts, the font colors are different. The color originally had a gray tone to it. Now parts the blog post has a black font. I would like to have the color in gray, but can’t find the exact color for the font.

I posted a link to a post that has two different colors.

    Hello there billboardguy!

Thank you for posting your question on this forum. I understand that you’d like to change the color of the table of top 100 hits from the current black color to the same shade of gray to match the color of the font in the rest of the blog post. I am I understanding you correctly?

In order to do so, please follow the steps below:

    1. In your admin dashboard, click on “Posts”
    2. Click on the particular post that you want to edit. This will take you to the edit post page.
    3. Click and highlight all the text which you would like to change
    4. Click on the “Toolbar toggle” button. This will reveal more editing options.
    5. With the text you want to change still highlighted, click on the little arrow next to the “Text color” button. The symbol for this button is the letter A
    6. Click “custom”
    7. Enter this code number, 555555 into the field with the # symbol next to it. This code represents the gray font in the rest of the post
    8. Finally, click “Update” to save your changes and you’re done!

Your font should now be the same shade of gray throughout the post.

  • Hi there,

I had a look at the post you linked to, and I don’t see any different-colored text anywhere.

In fact, I inspected the HTML code in my browser, and went through it paragraph by paragraph, and it has the same font color (rgb(85, 85, 85)) set throughout.

Can you point me to the specific text that’s appearing in black for you? It would also help if you can take a screen shot for me of what you see. Upload that directly to the media library, and I’ll be able to view it there.

  • @groobie1,

All the tables in that post are embedded images, so their color cannot be changed using block settings in the editor :)

Thanks Kokkieh, I hadn’t noticed that.

    @billboardguy

since the font color, you want to change is in an image. The solution I gave above will not work. What will work, however, is if you use a Graphics Editing Software like Photoshop or Gimp to change the black text to your desired shade of grey (#555555).

I have done this for you. You can get the edited image with gray text here: https://ibb.co/KcZ0DQX

I hope this solves your issue :)

  • @groobie1,

The OP didn’t say anywhere that they’re referring to the table.

It’s great that you’re trying to go above and beyond to help here, but rather than making assumptions like that and providing advice that might not be accurate, it’s generally better to ask for more information first if the issue is not clear.

Also note that we do not recommend making changes to content for users. Our policy in WordPress.com support is to teach people what to do, i.e. point them to the correct support page/tutorial that will allow them to make the changes they want themselves, as that will make them less reliant on having to contact support in the long term. The notable exception here is CSS support – there it’s fine to just provide someone with the code they need.
