Font is showing up different between Chrome with/without Incognito

  I’m using the Lovecraft theme and recently noticed that the font throughout my blog is showing up differently when viewed through regular Chrome versus when viewed through Chrome with Incognito.

  In this pic (Imgur), the top font is how it should show up, but the bottom font is how it is showing up when in Incognito:

  Any idea on why this is happening or how to fix it?

  I tested on Chrome standard and incognito, same exact font.

  Only suggestion I can think of is a browser caching issue. Please try clearing the browser’s cache, then look at it again. Some instructions that may help with this are here – https://kb.iu.edu/d/ahic

  I didn’t take a record of what I saw exactly yesterday Chrome vs Incognito Chrome, however testing again today …
  1) Whilst the page is loading it looks like the top font
  2) After loading it’s the bottom font

  It seems the same in Firefox too …

  The top font is the default one for the theme, and the bottom one is the one that you’ve changed it to.

  There have been some issues with the new free Google fonts that have been introduced on WordPress.com, I’ve been involved in this thread which I feel is probably related – https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/illustratr-theme-keeps-switching-between-default-font-and-custom-font … have a read !

  Have you cleared the browser’s cache like I suggested ? And also can you repeat the problem on a different browser and different device ?

  In any case as I can’t recreate, then it’s likely a specific issue on your machine/device, not an issue with WordPress.com. Just in case I’m wrong, I’ll ask for staff attention. They’ll either offer a different solution or close the thread if it’s not a WordPress.com problem.

  Hi Josh,

  When I view your site, both while logged in to WordPress.com and logged out in an incognito window, I see the Abril Text font (the bottom font in your screenshot) everywhere on the site. That matches the selection in the Fonts section in your site’s Customizer.

  You mentioned that you want it to appear like the top font — if you’d like to use the default fonts in the Lovecraft theme you’re using, you can change that in the Fonts section in the customizer. You can click the “x” next to the custom fonts you selected there to switch back to the defaults, and save your changes to see those changes live on your site.

  Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)

  Thanks Rachel, you were right! I had the font set to something other than default. The strange thing is, when I change the font type no change shows up in the preview window – it still looks the same as default. I guess I changed it but didn’t see any actual difference and left it that way.
