font size and color in chaotic template
-
I am getting complaints from some of my readers that they have trouble reading the text in the chaotic theme. I love the dark background because it makes pix pop but would like to increase the size of the font and make it a brighter white (it’s gray). I’d also like to change the link color on the font.
Has anyone else done this? Would like to leverage CSS. Or is there an easier way? Could CSS be used to just make these changes?

You would have to get the css editing upgrade to change the font size throughout the theme. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/about-the-custom-css-upgrade/ The only other alternative is this http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/06/12/can-i-change-my-font-font-size/

I’ve done that now and made some changes to both. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the Title of my blog in the process. It shows up on the preview screen just fine but when I save the new style sheet, it either disappears or is slipping up under the wordpress menu bar at the top. Any ideas?

I’ve seen the title (or part of the header image if the title is lower) slipping up under the admin bar on some other wordpress.com blogs with custom CSS as well. Perhaps one of the CSS guru’s will pop in later.

Thanks to you both. I tried clearing cache but still happens. I can see it momentarily but then it slips up under the admin bar.
I also managed to somehow lose the “split” image at the top which I’m ok with. I’m just not exactly sure how i did that.

Are you by any chance using IE6? If so, it doesn’t play nice with WP.
Like tsp said, maybe the CSS gurus will check in and help.
-
Ah ha! Yes I am using IE6. I opened up Mozilla and could see the title fine. However, in Mozilla, some of the pictures loaded into my posts are messed with with the text. Pooh. If I only worked in Mozilla, would I be better off?
-
Yes, basically. But keeping IE around is a good idea, because it’s the most popular browser in the world and you always want to know what your blog looks like in IE.

I noticed that at least one of your images is too wide for the post area (the one in Hardee’s tactics) which can cause a layout to break (sidebar drops to the bottom or something similar). Here ( http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/how-big-can-my-images-be/ ) it states that the maximum image width for the post area is 480 px and it’s 698 px.

So is the one of the group of soldiers on the post about Lincoln (1024 px). The one on the siege of Charleston also at 1086 px wide.
They all need to be resized (or done as thumbnails linked to the original picture) or you will have problems. IE 7 is cranky and would probably show your layout as broken with all the sidebar widgets at the bottom of the screen.

Hello: Try this:
Please use CODE instead of VISUAL; just replace the approprite sections.
<span class=”text”><span style=”font-size: 11pt; color: yellow; font-family: ‘Arial'”>This a test.</span></span>
Be careful though, make sure not even one character is deleted, or it won’t work.
Good luck.

I hope you mean Firefox and not Mozilla (which was around before Firefox but from the same company). They stopped supporting that browser a while ago.

I did mean firefox….it’s still branded as mozilla.
exzeed: did you mean for me to add span class text code within the post as opposed to at the CSS level?
-
i’m not sure, but that’s what i did when i used the theme previously. dont ask me how i came across the code. it was by accident really, but it works. i thought span class text code is part of css (html, xhtml, xml and lot), is it?
