Font Sizes
-
Tried setting up a second site/blog. In huge lettering is the phrase ‘Welcome to my new blog’. I found where I can change the text — but nowhere can I find how to change the font size. Where can I find font sizes (smaller) to replace this huge lettering? Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello again — I deleted that huge phrase.
But now I have “June 29, 2019 by Taigh Annie” provided as a second line. (Taigh Annie is the name of my first site)
How do I turn off “help” like this? How do I delete this line? Also, still haven’t found font sizes. What I would like is too see a complete set of editing tools with each part of the page to be edited. But all I see are menus that open on the side bar — but none of these options are for editing the section of page I would like to write.
thank you again.

OK — sorry but another question.
I have just closed and gone back to the site. There are two quotes that I didn’t enter that appear on the first page! They seem to be presented as options — but I can’t find where/how to edit either page area (can’t find editing options to delete these or change them).I haven’t tried to update the first site recently, so maybe there have been some significant changes to the wordpress site. I’m going to see if I can edit anything on my original site.
Thank you again. -
Hi anniejf,
Can you post a link to your new blog so we can get a better understanding of your issues?
From what you are saying it sounds like you’re seeing your blog posts on your homepage. You can change what appears on your homepage by setting a page to be your static homepage. This guide tells you how to do that: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
Posts and pages are similar but different, if you’re not sure what the difference is you can read more about them here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
If it’s a while since you last edited a WordPress.com site you probably will see some changes, but there are lots of guides here to help you get to grips with it all.

Hi —
Just deleted my entire answer here by hitting a wrong key and can’t get it back, so here it is again. The “new” page I wanted to set up today is
mplsscottishgaelic.wordpress.comI was able to delete the banner in huge font. The two quotes I wanted gone seem to be gone — but not sure why as I had not been able to delete them a few hours ago. I’m hoping they’re gone permanently. Unfortunately, the line:
“June 29, 2019 by Taigh Annie”
still appears even though I tried to delete it several times.
The edit button next to it opens a page for editing but the line I want to delete doesn’t appear anywhere — it just keeps showing up when I look at the site page.If I start typing at the opened page (after hitting the edit button) there are some options in the sidebar and some in a “hovering” bar (not sure what to call that), but would like more font options than small, medium, large size, for example.
I had hoped to set up a new page several hours ago, but I can see that isn’t going to happen until I’ve read the help files. I did look at several but found nothing that answered my questions.
I would like to be able to open all fields that are showing up on the site for editing or deleting. I would like to see see standard editing options available as I type. I was last on my first site (taighannie.wordpress.com) in December 2018 and don’t remember any problems with making a few updates at that time.
It seems things have significantly changed and I’ll just have to start at the beginning with the help files. If there is a basic template that doesn’t have suggestions and features already entered, that would be a better place to start I think. Then I wouldn’t have to start with trying to figure out how to delete everything.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly, but I think I just have to start with the help files when I have more time.
