  To change fonts I can only use the HTML editor? There are no basic fonts and sizes to easily choose from in the basic themes? I have wasted much time looking for this!

  You are correct. The fonts have been chosen by each theme’s designers to complement his/her vision for the layout. If a blog owner wishes to make adjustments, the most flexible way is with the Custom Design upgrade.
