Fonts available through Premium WordPress Templates
-
Hi there – I would like to know what fonts are available through WordPress’ Premium Templates. Are they the same as what are available through the Free templates, or are there additional?
The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

Hi there,
The WordPress.com Premium plan doesn’t include additional fonts. While you get access to custom CSS (which lets you modify font size/color etc on various theme elements), additional fonts are not activated with the WordPress.com Premium plan.
However, with the WordPress.com Business plan, you can use plugins to import/use more custom fonts on your site.
Hope that helps.

Hi there @tropianoproperties, Thank you for asking this question!
I spent some time looking at free and premium themes earlier today and what I found is that if the fonts are selected in the Customizer, at least on the 2 (of 100*) free and 4 (of 84*) premium themes I checked, the same fonts are available. You can see these fonts in the Customizer on the free Twenty-Twenty theme. https://wordpress.com/theme/twentytwenty
However, if the theme you choose changes fonts using Global Styles, like Hever, the available fonts are a bit different. Apparently, none of the current Premium themes use Global Styles. https://wordpress.com/themes/premium/filter/global-styles
Themes checked:
Hever (Free) – Global Styles
Twenty-Twenty (Free) – Customizer
Editor (Free) – Customizer
Melody (Premium) – Customizer
Olsen (Premium) – Customizer
Zuki (Premium) – Customizer
Rosalie (Premium) – CustomizerIf there is a specific Premium theme you’re wondering about, let me know and I’ll be happy to check if it is an exception to the rule.
*For numbers, I referred to the Themes Showcase in a Private browsing window so that none of my active sites were involved.
