Fonts do not appear in side bar.

Hi there,
What is the URL of the site you’re working on?
Custom fonts are not supported in all themes, so if you’re not seeing the Fonts tab in the Customizer, it means that feature is not available for your theme.
-
Thank you, but which themes are used for custom fonts? I am using the the default theme: Twenty-Twenty. I am also not a coder, so the code you provided does not help me at all.
-
Hi –
Using the block editor this list will allow you to select the fonts. https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/global-styles
-
Perhaps I am misunderstanding you, but the link you sent to me for the block editor provides information, solicitations for website builders and, as far as I can see, you list of available fonts. I have a website builder: WordPress. How do I access the many hundreds of fonts (roughly 800+) to use? As I mentioned, I am using the default: Twenty-Twenty. It has very few font options. As I also mentioned, I do not anything about coding.
-
Right. You need to use a theme that allows for custom fonts. Not every theme has font options built in to it.
Otherwise, you’d need to upgrade for the infrastructure ability to add plugins with our business plan. See here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
-
Go to WP Admin dashboard – look for Appearance section. Underneath choose Customise- then you will see fonts etc.
Happy fonting!
-
Thank you, but I don’t understand. I was able to add the Caldera plug in. Why can’t I add a font plug in without upgrading? Wesbsite:US-Japanlanguageandculture.com

As you’re posting into the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com the replies you received above reflected that. Actually your site isn’t hosted here. For support for the wordpress installation you’ll need to register an account at the correct forum:

Maybe try changing themes? Certain themes maybe have restrictions? For instance, on my theme, I can’t change the colour of my menu fonts. That’s assuming it’s not an option available with upgrade? When I put the color code in, it was showing as red – meaning it was an error.
-
@mercedesblak we’d be happy to take a look at that if you’d like. Want to start a new thread & include a link to the site and the color code you used?
When I put the color code in, it was showing as red – meaning it was an error.

I have no idea what anyone is talking about anymore because so many people are responding with no actual help. My website ends in .com. So that means it’s not free. When I go to the sites recommended, they don’t answer my question. They are generic for building a site. I’m not using color coding. I’m just trying to access Google Type Fonts that have been activated but I am unable to figure out how to use them for editing. And I do not use HTML coding. So is there anyone who can answer a straight forward question without sending me non-answers?
-
Sorry about that, @dlm67; that’s why we had the other person open their own request.
My colleague @kokkieh had asked you to send a link to your site earlier. Can you send that so we can see how it is set up right now? I see two sites on your account and neither are using Twenty Ten or a plugin.
Perhaps you meant to ask at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ instead? Bear in mind, if you’re running your own copy of WordPress with another provider, it’s going to be different in several ways from a site hosted here. That might be the source of your confusion.
-
I have no idea what you are talking about. My site, the one I am discussing, is: US-Japanlanguageandculture.com The Theme is Twenty Twenty. I have the first level premium for the site (in other words, not free). I have installed the Google Font Typography and cannot access it because … because … that is the problem. The provider is WordPress. It’s amazing that everyone extols the virtues of how easy WordPress is to use and that is hardly the case. I have no problems with WIX or another platform I use. But to get a straight answer in order to use WordPress is close to impossible. I have watched videos, read instructions. You name it. Nothing is intuitive or easy when certain features do not appear.

OK. That site is your own copy of WordPress, hosted at Namecheaphosting, not hosted at WordPress.com, right?
The free software is not the same thing as our service. Our service includes the font customizer you’ve got on the two sites listed here. Your own copy hosted elsewhere will not, but you can install your own plugins and decide how to do that yourself.
If you need help with a site that is not using our services, the correct forums for help are at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Or, you’d be welcome to set up the site here instead. Here’s our pricing:

OK. Thank you. This is information that NameCheap never told me. As I understood it WordPress was WordPress. I will review the choices you have told me about and make a new decision. Wow, did I waste a lot of time. But you cleared this up. Much appreciated.

No problem. If it helps, WordPress.com (the service) includes:
– hosting
– security
– maintenance
– support
– our own add-ins (many of which are also available through Jetpack)Our pricing ranges from free basic sites to.. well, quite a bit more for enterprises, but most of our customers use one of these plans:
https://wordpress.com/pricingWordPress itself is free software… you can download your own copy of the code (almost like a recipe) and install it on the computer or server of your choice. You’re just also in charge of handling hosting, maintenance, plugin choices, and your own support (unless your host offers support separately.) You can modify it in infinite ways, as long as you know how or can figure it out. It has a community site at WordPress.org where folks help each other.
It’s much like the difference between a restaurant and a free recipe. :)
Anyway, if you have more questions about our service, just let us know. Cheers :)
