Fonts in my blog has become weird, would like a help :(

  • Unknown's avatar

    My blog -> http://guriguriblog.wordpress.com/

Basically, the fonts for my texts in my posts and sidebars aren’t what they once used to be, they are now different. I would like to know a way to change them back to their original fonts. I think this problem occurred when I tried to edit one of my draft and my browser crashed.

I once had a similar problem when all texts in my blog were written in italics (including sidebar). I looked around the web at that time and found a solution, which was going to setting->writing-> tick the box that said ‘wordpress should correct invalidly nested xhtml correctly’-> edit any post. This solution is not working for my present problem.

Does anyone with good knowledge of wordpress have any solutions? Thanks for reading and hoping for wise advice.

Try to find out which post is causing problem. The you can edit in html mode or maybe delete it.

Well I deleted the draft that I’m pretty sure was causing the problem (the one I tried to edit and crash), but the problem still persists. And before I came here I tried to edit in html mode, but I couldn’t see anything wrong in html mode (well, from what I could tell anyway). Mmm this is a really weird case for me :/

Changed fonts in the posts and the sidebar is usually due to an unclosed html tag somewhere. We cannot pinpoint the problem for you unless you publish the post again.

Ah ok, thanks. So would it be possible to pinpoint the problem if I publish any new post? Because I have already deleted the draft that I was working on (which crashed, and then causing my blog the problem).

I also found few things which may or may not help solve this riddle…

    – My latest published post (http://guriguriblog.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/background-art-of-oh-edo-rocket-and-hundred-stories/), had a weird code in html mode. There was a ‘hidden’ code, which I have now deleted. The problem however is still persisting.

    – When I click on three of four archives pages on my sidebar, there is an option to ‘leave comment’ on my archives post. But you can’t actually leave any comment (which makes sense, because when I published those pages I didn’t allow any comments). In that case, why does it display ‘leave comment’ anyway? Usually they displayed ‘Comments off’ in my pages. Another error? Maybe this is related to my present problem?

Also these codes seemed to have been present when I copied/pasted from microsoft word.

Deleted them, but still having the problem :(

Never ever, ever paste directly from MS Word. MS Word does not speak “web” and will mess up your blog big-time. If you have to use Word, then follow the procedure outlined in this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/ .

And no we cannot help if you have deleted the post because there is no guarantee that the next post you do will cause the same issue.

Oh ok…so are you saying that there is no known way to change the font of my blog back and my blog may be doomed to be stuck with this font? I deleted the draft that I thought was causing the problem because someone above said it may help the case. I guess it’s my bad for not waiting for more replies. Still bit hard to believe that this one mistake is likely to forever change my blog layout in not so desirable way. I am confident that I can make future posts to not cause this problem again, I only hope that there wordpress has a way of ‘resetting’ the codes back to their default mode.

    Sorry for the troubles.

Set your blog to display only one post per page (settings > reading) and then go through each post using the previous or older post link on the bottom of the page and see which post is causing the problem.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for the suggestion. I will do exactly that when I have more time (bit exhausted from trying to figure this all out for hours…), since I have quite a number of posts.

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok here’s the problem…it seems that every time I go to another page with a different post in each page, the problem is still there. In another words, there is no way to tell which post is causing a problem by looking at how a post is affecting that page.

The thing is, when I compare your posts to one of my test blogs using the same theme, I’m seeing the exact same fonts, font colors and sizes in both yours and mine. The only difference is that you are setting yours for fully justified text where mine is set for the theme default of left-aligned.

All I can suggest is to contact staff, because from what I’m seeing, the fonts, colors and sizes are exactly what they should be – at least when compared to my test blog using the same theme.

One thing to do is make sure that your browser zoom level is set to normal (view menu > reset zoom/actual size or whatever it’s called with the browser you are using.

  • Unknown's avatar

There seems to be no difference between that cached page and your current one. Are you talking about different font size maybe? (If so, then you’ve probably just zoomed in or out in one of your browser windows or tabs.)

for some reason, i wake up to find my blog completely normal again.

It’s a complete mystery…no idea what was wrong with it.

Well thanks for the suggestions guys, still not sure what made it go back, but I’m just happy that it’s back to normal! :D

    Thanks.

You’re welcome. But your blog is just as it was before (normal!). So it was either the zoom in or out we mentioned, or a temporary browser or server problem.
