Footer…

I’ve upgraded to the premium plan. In conjunction with that, if I establish my own domain name can I delete the footer that reads “Blog at WordPress.com. The Coraline Theme”? Also, how do I delete the smiley face in the left-hand side of the footer?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Given the TOS I expect that the “Blog at WordPress.com” must remain on my website. Is that correct?
How do I remove the :-) below my footer?
PLEASE provide a response.
Thank you!
-
Yes, the footer credits need to remain in accordance with our terms of service.
Regarding the smiley, it’s actually part of the stats collection system, and also cannot be removed: http://en.support.wordpress.com/smiley-on-your-blog/

Thank you very much for the information!!!
btw…is it possible to expand the height of my pages and/or posts so that the smiley won’t appear on the computer screens of readers of my site?

Thanks again!!!
One more question…I’ve noticed on several bogs using the same theme that images appeared vs. thumbnails. Any idea why my images are all thumbnails?
-
I’m not sure what you mean. Can you give me a link to a site which does this?
Also, have you tried just inserting the image as a thumbnail?
-
http://stock-market-perspectives.com/
The image on my last post is 908 × 662. I have not reduced the size. It appears as a thumbnail.
-
Oh, a thumbnail is actually a standard 150×150 pixels image (very small) which links off to very large, not your case.
Do you mean you don’t want your image to link to the larger image? If so, just follow the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/ and choose no link.

Interesting…I most be doing something wrong. I reviewed the links to the material that you provided me yesterday but could not replicate exactly the screens show in the guide. I will try again in an effort to make my images to appear larger. Thank you.
ps…last night in addition to trying to accomplish the above (with no success so far), I clicked on various areas on my blog page named ABOUT, e.g. header image, body of the text Interesting…I most be doing something wrong. I reviewed the links to the material that you provided me yesterday but could not replicate exactly the screens show in the guide. I will try again in an effort to make my images to appear larger. Thank you.
Finally, in addition to trying to accomplish the above last night, I clicked on various areas on my blog page named ABOUT, e.g. header image, body of the text and the section below that contains Blog at WordPress.com The Coraline Theme. When I right clicked on the box that contains Blog at WordPress.com……I must had invoked some command accidently. As a result, when viewing that page on my computer I see an unsightly dotted line below the box.
I created another page named ABOUT2 to see if the problem repeated itself. Interestingly, the dashed line did not appear on the ABOUT page. Rather it moved to the ABOUT2 page.
I then deleted the ABOUT2 page, logged out of WordPress and again viewed my site. The error once again appeared on my ABOUT page.
Finally, I cleared my cache and cookies and once again viewed my site’s ABOUT page…both last night and this morning. The problem remains. I must have done something that affected code behind the scenes that I don’t have control over. Can you help me restore my ABOUT page back to normal?
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely…mikeyjr

Hm, I’m not seeing any sort of dotted line as you describe.
First, please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these two things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
-
ok…I’ve previously cleared the browser’s cache and cookies. But…I’ll try again per your instructions (2).
I’ll also go through the other steps that you provided. Once complete…I’ll get back to you.
Thanks…

Hello…I followed your instructions. Results are as follows:
IE…dashed line remained below the WordPress credit on the ABOUT page.
FireFox…no dashed line appeared on the ABOUT page.
Google…dashed line appeared on both the HOME and ABOUT page.
After completing the above, I returned to viewing the ABOUT page in IE.
I right clicked on the page bringing up a menu and selected “Inspect element”. I was now in the IE DOM Explorer.I then selected the “Styles menu”. In the line that read –
menu: outline: 1Px dotted black – I unchecked the box that proceeded the word “outline”.Exiting the IE DOM Explorer I again viewed the ABOUT page. The dashed line below the WordPress credit was gone. Also, the dashed boxes that would appear when right clicking on other elements e.g. header image, body text, footer, etc. no longer appeared. The same results were achieved when viewing the HOME page.
Finally, I closed out the site and exited IE. Upon restarting IE and bringing up the site the dashed line below the WordPress credit remained. Also, when right clicking on other elements e.g. header image, body text, footer, etc. the dashed boxes appeared.
I’m guessing the results I originally achieved while in the IE DOM Explorer were not permanent because I don’t have an IE DOM Explorer subscription or that the WordPress system would not permit me to make the change.
In any event, I’m thinking that if I the website style could be changed per the above e.g. “menu: outline: 1Px dotted black – uncheck the box that proceeds the word “outline” might be the fix.
I’m not sure if I have that capability.
I’d also like to change the WordPress credit from “Blog at WordPress.com the Coraline Theme” to “Powered by WordPress.com”. This I expect would be done by editing the html. I’m not sure if I have this capability either.
As I don’t have your expertise…I hope the above explanation makes sense.
Thanks!!!

The footer credit cannot be changed.
Which version of IE, Firefox, and Chrome are you running?
Also, would you please take a screenshot of the issue in each and upload it via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard so I can take a look?
-
ok…will do…
With regard to the WordPress credit, why when I view other blogs I see “Powered by WordPress.co” or “Proudly powered by WordPress.com”, etc.? There are many out there.
Respectfully…

Hello
I viewed the site this AM. Firefox and Google are ok. No dashed boxes appeared around the selected elements when placing the mouse over them and right clicking. Also, no dashed line appeared below the WordPress credit. The issue does remain with Internet Explorer (IE 11).
I’ve uploaded images IE-1 thru IE-3 to the Media Library per your request.
Finally, as mentioned in an earlier reply, placing the mouse over and right clicking on an element, including the WordPress credit, seemed to have caused the problem. When doing so I may have selected the menu “Open in new tab” or “Open in new window”.
Prior to doing the above, no dashed line appeared below the WordPress credit. However, dashed boxes did appear around the selected elements when placing the mouse over them and right clicking.
Thanks…
-
Yeah, that’s IE’s selection box, not something we’re doing (or even can do). I’d suspect maybe one of your browser extensions is causing the weirdness.
-
I wasn’t aware that some themes display the WP credits differently…learn something every day…that’s a good thing.
As for the IE problem…I’ll tinker around and see if I can resolve the problem on my end.
Thanks for all of your help!
