For some reason one of my tabs says, “Read more” but I didn’t put that there

I would like to take out the ‘continue reading’ on one of my posts. Let me explain something first:

I added a custom menu so that I could have certain posts go under those categories (to give my site a website look to it)

When I go to the tab “poetry” one of my posts is there (which I did on purpose) but for some reason it says “continue reading” but i never put that in the post, nor do I want it to be there.

    Help.

    thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The categories pages (in this case poetry) in the theme you are using show excerpts automatically in the categories and tags pages as well as in the archives pages. It’s the way the theme is designed by the author and we cannot change that functionality.

For some posts, it will say “read more” or something to that effect if you insert it via the post window’s toolbar. I believe if you’ve got your blog set to show more than 1 post per page, this too, may truncate the posts and automatically show the “Read more” link you speak of.

    See if this helps:

Also, it could be a feature/coding within your theme that’s causing this problem. You might have to look at the coding for each post (instead of the visual tab) to change it, or else change the theme altogether. Here’s a link to this info:

No, how many posts you have set to show on the blog page has nothing to do with it. This is the way that twenty ten is designed. Category, tags and archives pages will only show an excerpt.

And there is no “feature” coding in twenty ten.

@luiscongdon: The correct answer is the one given by thesacredpath. See here:

Category/archive pages: full posts or not

To display complete posts in category pages, you’ll need to switch the post editor to html, copy all the content of the post, paste it into the Excerpt box, click Update.

So, i tried the advice given. I tried copying/pasting the content into the excerpt and it worked the way described above.

It did not display the music player though (it just showed the html codes for the poems).
    (I copied/pasted from HTML editor).

    Any advice?

For now, I just wrote a brief intro saying, “here is my poetry”

Thanks for all the advice. Greatly appreciate it.

You’re welcome. Sorry, that’s the best that can be done: excerpts don’t display shortcode objects. If you’re not content with that, you’ll have to change theme.

Thanks so much for the help here.
