Force https on my entire site
-
Is there a way to force https to my entire site? The reason why I need this is many of my site’s visitors reside in China, where WordPress.com is blocked. I was able to circumvent that problem by using a custom domain. However, images uploaded to my site are still not visible to Chinese visitors since all images are still hosted under the wordpress.com domain (http://mitsqdotcom.files.wordpress.com/). Can I force https on my entire site? Since images under https://mitsqdotcom.files.wordpress.com/ are visible in China.
Or is there a way to make all the files to be under my own domain? I see TechCrunch China (techcrunch.cn) does this. Images on TechCrunch China are hosted under its own domain name (e.g. http://files.techcrunch.cn/2013/12/screen-shot-2013-12-09-at-09-47-01.png),
Any ideas will help. Thanks

No all you can do is what’s here for Admin pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#enabling-https
“The latest trick, carried out by activists at Great Firewall monitoring site Greatfire.org, is to upload mirrored copies of blocked sites to cloud hosting services, challenging the Great Firewall operators to block major brands like Amazon and Google cloud hosting, or allow freer access to banned material. “ http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2013/11/25/great-firewall-of-china-bypassed-by-cloud-mirrors/
As a workaround some have been using a VPN or proxy to access WordPress.com blogs. The following links provide some options:

Some users have had luck simply by using Opera Turbo. http://www.opera.com/browser/turbo/ -
Hi Leopold,
There isn’t a way to make all pages/images use HTTPS by default and we don’t offer hosting images under your own domain name (except for VIP customers, like TechCrunch).
On your posts, you can use the Text Editor to change the img src tags used to place images on your site. For example, it would have
<img src="http://example.files.wordpress.com...."and you can change it to<img src="https://example.files.wordpress.com...>Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for the responses.
Actually, I have been using using kraftbj’s method for a while. But the problem is I still can’t use the Gallery and Feature Image features. There is no way to change the HTML codes there and they are http by default.
If I purchase WordPress Enterprise, can I use my own domain for the images? VIP service is a bit too expensive for me.
Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Leopold,
I’m checking with the Enterprise folks about the custom files domain. Either a member of their team or I will get back with you shortly.
Thanks!

@timechief Thanks for the information.
@kraftbj Great. Thank you very much for the help.

Hi Leopold,
At this time, that isn’t something we’re offering for Enterprise customers. Thanks!
