Forgot to renew domain.

  I have already emailed about this and haven’t heard back. It appears that my domain name; chaserspitch.com is still connected with my blog here.

  I forgot to renew it and I am trying to find out how to do that. Can someone please let me know how to renew this before it goes back out into domain land for someone else to get.

  I read in another forum post something about expired domains being in redemption or something?

  Your domain name expired on 26-SEP-2011. Unfortunately your domain is in redemption as you didn’t renew it in time. You have three options for recovering an expired domain:

  1) Pay WordPress.com $97.00 to reactive the domain. This includes an annual subscription to the WordPress.com domain mapping and registration upgrades. We have no control over the additional cost as it is levied on us by our domain registrar.

  2) Go to http://pool.com/ register there and place the domain on backorder. As soon as the name becomes available Pool will try to get it for you. The domain would cost a minimum of $60 from there.

  3) Another alternative is to just wait, hope no one else buys it and get it again for $17.00.

  If you want to be 100% sure of getting your domain back, you must use the first option. Please login to http://paypal.com/ and pay (email visible only to moderators and staff) US$97.00, and mark the payment “For renewal of domain: chaserspitch.com” and reply to this email. We will contact our domain registrar who will reactive your domain within a few days, if not hours.

  Okay, How long will it be in redemption – basically how long do I have to pay the $97?

  If I decide to wait, how long before it is back in the open market to purchase for $17.

  By the way, why does it jump from $17/annually to $97?

  Seems a little extreme.

  The $97 includes an $80 fee to recover the domain. We have no control over the additional cost as it is levied on us by our domain registrar. Future renewals would be just $17.

  The domain will remain in redemption until released to the public pool by our registrar partner. This usually takes no more than 90 days, but we have no control over the process.

  So to pay I log into paypal and pay the $97 – what is the email address I send the money to?
