Sorry but as you noticed it’s a bad idea to ignore a verification email – https://wordpress.com/support/domains/update-contact-information/
You must wait untill a Staff member is available to resend the verification email.

When your domain is suspended, it means that the registry suspended your domain name because you failed to verify your email address or the contact details have been modified for the domain and still require verification. This applies to all gTLDs (Generic Top Level Domains) such as .com, .net, .org, .info, etc.
This verification is done annually to ensure your contact information is up-to-date.
There is a 15-day window during which you must verify your domain contact details. If you miss the 15 days and fail to complete the verification process, your domain name will be suspended. This is controlled by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and not WordPress.com. You can read more about this process here:
https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/registrar-suspension-2017-06-20-en
I’ve resent the verification email to the email address on file for the account you’re currently logged into because that was set as the domain contact when the domain was purchased.
Please note that this is NOT the email address for the account that owns the upgrade, the domain, and the website. I strongly recommend you use the same domain contact email address as the account that owns the domain to avoid confusion in the future.
