Forgotten password AND expired email address

  Hello, I’ve got a two-pronged problem: the email address I had attached to my WordPress blog has been discontinued by my provider. But now I can’t recall my password to log into WordPress and change the email address my site is connected to, so I’ve lost access. Who do I go to for help on this?

  Note: That was only to confirm if it was a WordPress.com website. I do just want to add, if it is, you’ll need to use the Account Recovery process to recover it: https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

  Assuming you don’t have any transaction IDs, would it be possible to contact your provider about recovering the email?

  Hi, thanks for that link. Yes it is a wordpress account, but that process will just send a new link to my old email provider. They don’t offer an email service at all anymore so I don’t even have a provider. That’s why I’m stuck!

  And yes, if you were asking, to be more specific, it was a wordpress.com account.

  Hi there,

  Without knowing what site/account you’re trying to access there’s not much more we can do to help you, but ultimately the account recovery form is the only way to verify your ownership and regain access to the account. When you submit that form you can provide an alternative email address where we’ll follow up with you to continue helping with the process.

  I’m having the same problem. I created the site in college and now can’t use that email. I don’t have any of the transaction id’s required by the account recovery because that info would be in the old email account that I now can’t access!

  Please start a new thread for your question and tag it with modlook — it would be great if you could mention the site URL there so we can take a look. It’s worth noting that we can only help recover WordPress.com sites with proof of ownership.

  Thanks: I’ve stared a new thread as suggested above, and have included modlook. I think I have proof of ownership: I have all the old emails from wordpress to my old email address
