Form Block not working 2019

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a fairly new free WordPress site (zianasue.wordpress.com), therefore I can’t install plugins. How can I fix the form block? I put the email address that I want the messages sent to and the subject line message.

However, when I send test messages the messages don’t go through, and the form sends me to: zianasue.wordpress.com/contact/#contact-form-35 which says ‘Page not found’ with an option to search or view an archive.

There are no advanced settings other than a spot to place CSS classes (which doesn’t work either). Also, I noticed that the form when I view it on the published page isn’t auto-populated with my information like my forms on my other free WordPress blogs.

I don’t want to have to copy and paste the form HTML from one of my other sites to my new one, because I want to become familiar with the new page/post editing style. However, I’m very close to giving up on the contact page of my new site.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I have a fairly new free WordPress site (zianasue.wordpress.com), therefore I can’t install plugins.

Plugins can only be installed on WordPress.com if you have the Business Plan Upgrade:

    https://wordpress.com/business/

They are usually used for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Also, I noticed that the form when I view it on the published page isn’t auto-populated with my information like my forms on my other free WordPress blogs.

If you visit your live site to view your contact form, you may see your contact information is pre-filled in. You only see it when you’re logged in and other viewers shouldn’t see it, so there is no need for it to be pre-filled in unless you are filling out a contact form on someone else’s site.

    Please see:

    Form Block

However, when I send test messages the messages don’t go through

I’ll fill out a test form to make sure you receive it. Everything looks set up properly on my end – looks like the default contact form was inserted untouched.

For more information on the form, please visit our support page:

    Thanks,

I’m fully aware that free sites can’t install plugins.

What I want to know is how to fix the issue without using plugins?

  • Did you receive the test contact form submission I made from last week?

I can see from here that the submission processed successfully. Everything looks set up properly.

Are you not seeing the email notifications?we What features are missing from this form that you had in your previous form that you want to add?

When I visit my live site my the contact form isn’t pre-populated with my info, and the form doesn’t send me any emails.

I see your test message on the feedback tab, but it’s suppose to be emailed to me so I can see it without having to come to my site and check the feedback tab.

    let me break this down
    the past:
someone submits the contact form -> it gets sent to the feedback tab and is also emailed to me a copy of the message and sender info (and never actually have to go to the feedback tab unless I voluntarily do so).

    now:
someone submits the contact form -> it gets sent to the feedback tab about 1/3 of the time and no emails are sent to me (I sent 6 test messages on all my sites and only 2 ever showed up on the feedback tab on any of them), and I don’t get the messages unless I go to the feedback tab.

The form is suppose to email me the messages sent from the contact page form (it used to, and I didn’t change anything). I’m not understanding why it’s now going to the feedback tab, but not emailing me the messages like it used to.

I’m guessing it’s some stupid WordPress update that changed things, that shouldn’t have been messed with.

All my sites have contact forms that are submitting to the feedback page but not emailing me. It’s extremely frustrating to me that people now have to DM me via SNS in order to get answers quickly because the forms aren’t emailing me as they used it.

Please forgive the rant, however, I’m extremely annoyed.

Are you logged into your WordPress.com account when you view the form? If you’re logged out, or using any kind of tracking blocking in your browser that prevents us from detecting you’re logged in, the form won’t be pre-filled.

I see your test message on the feedback tab, but it’s suppose to be emailed to me so I can see it without having to come to my site and check the feedback tab.

Our email logs show we did send that email, and it was accepted by your email provider. We also sent emails for the two previous submissions I see in your feedback section, submitted on 30 and 10 July respectively.

If those did not appear in your inbox, that’s an issue on your email provider’s end. Most likely it got caught in their spam filters, or there’s some other filter active that causes these emails to bypass the inbox.

Please contact your email provider directly so they can check this on their end.

(I sent 6 test messages on all my sites and only 2 ever showed up on the feedback tab on any of them)

The messages that didn’t show up on the feedback tab at all was likely filtered as spam by the contact form. For test submissions you should always use “real” info – trying to test using a fake email address, or submitting nonsense content or just “test”, will cause our spam filters to catch it 9 times out of 10, making any such test useless.

Messages that are filtered as spam do not generate email notifications.
