Form of the journalist

    Dear all,

    Just a few questions re the journalist theme. I cant seem to remove the ‘search’, ‘the associates’, and the ‘meta’ widgets from my sidebar despite following tutorials I’ve found online. Also all the text in the sidebar are capitals, I wear spectacles but this is a bit excessive, can i change this, I have the css upgrade but not sure if this is something I can alter and if so, how? Finally the title options, the space at the top, does it allow a subtitle?

    Any advice would be most grateful.

    Each wen designer makes their own choices when they design a theme. Some of those choices can be altered on wordpress.com blogs and some cannot be. This theme is not coded to have a tagline. As for your CSS questions I will leave those for another volunteer to answer.

    The widget display is the default display. As soon as you place the widgets of your choice in the sidebar the others will be gone. I tried this in my test blog and had no difficulty at all. I placed different widgets in the sidebar and the others disappeared.

    Regarding the font being bold in your sidebar, you will find that you left a strong tag (bold) open in one of your posts and that has affected the sidebar display. You must find it and close it.

    @Christian, it appears like you have a bunch of messed up strong tags and code in your latest post which is making everything bold. I see no “all caps” in the sidebar, just all bold (strong).

    Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and click “save changes.”

    Next open your latest post, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “update post. WordPress should automatically correct any HTML issues in the posts and fix the issue.

    If you are familiar with HTML, you need to go through that first post since wordpress is not going to fix all the issues in that post.
