Format
-
My husband and I use Words Press for a blog. Not only do we not want to have it change again we don’t like the last new format. We have to jump through hoops to sort of make it operate as it did at first and is a pain to us both. What we really want is just our original format back. How? Oh and we don’t need the emails every day either and the unsub link at the bottom doesn’t work. I would like a direct answer not a forum answer. Sheryl and Noval

Hi there,
On WordPress.com the new block editor is the default experience for all site owners. It is not possible to set the classic editor as “default” under your account in this case.
However, even though you can’t set it as default, you can still access and use the classic editor. We have a guide here to show you how: https://en.support.wordpress.com/classic-editor-guide/
What we really want is just our original format back. How?
As I mention, on WordPress.com the workaround I linked above will work. However, we are not the only WordPress provider, so you do have the option to move off or WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress site, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.
On those sites you can add plugins without an additional upgrade, and that would allow you to add this plugin, which will set the classic editing experience by default: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
Note: You can install the same plugin here on WordPress.com but it requires upgrading to our Business Plan first. Plugins are not an option on our free sites, so I mention this second option (migrating to another provider) as the low cost option.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
