Format changed when published

I posted a blog entry this morning that took 6 Edits and Saves to get it right. The post looked fine during composition, but when choosing Preview, Save, or Publish, the post was completely scrambled- everything from line breaks to indents to font color changed.

BTW, I posted from WordPress-didn’t use a blogwriter to format the post. I’d appreciate any helpful hints as to what went wrong!

Did you copy and paste it from another source such as the web or MS word?

No- Like I said, I wrote and posted from WordPress. I kept correcting the format, and when I hit Publish and View Site, my post format was scrambled. I edited again and cleaned up the code, but it still had to be corrected again and again before it looked the way I wanted it to on the page.

This is the first time (started with WordPress in Nov.2007) I have had formatting/publishing problems, so I thought it might be a new glitch.

There seems to be some odd things happening with the editor lately. On the extended toolbar (click on the last icon on the right) there is a button that looks like a brush. If you hover your mouse over it it will say “clean up messy code”. Once you have your stuff ready to publish, highlight all of it in the visual editor and then click that button and then publish it and see what happens. Other than that, I’m short on ideas.

I have noticed that sometimes when doing a lot of formatting and such, the html for the formatting will get kind of messed up and out of order, and the “clean up messy code” button seems to do a good job of getting things in the proper order. I have no idea if this is what is happening or not.

Indents, unless they are coded into the theme, will NEVER work unless you use an image the same colour as the background to save the space. How have you been making indents? Space bar doesn’t work.

    I use code to indent.

sacred- I did use the ‘clean messy code’, and it significantly improved things, but I still had to go back and make a few more changes for it to post in the format I wanted.

I thought about using LiveWriter from now on- I used it once when I started, and it worked fine.
