Format gone crazy

  • Unknown's avatar

I am having a formatting issue that is driving me batty! :( I don’t know why it happened with my last post, but I was putting part of my text in blue and italiacs and when I saved and went to view, all my other posts have been changed to the same format. I’m having a heck of a time changing all the posts on the page and its also changed the font and color on some of my things in the side bar. Can anyone help me fix this problem? TIA

I would guess that the post where you have first used the font tag you have forgotten to close it.

No, I’ve checked…all is closed. Today is the first time it has happened. Its a pain to go thru each post and change the font back…some won’t even change back. And I don’t know whats wrong with the sidebar :(.

You have a missing font tag that isn’t closed somewhere </font> and it matters not that it’s in the posting area because the effect is on the whole blog including the sidebar.

Setting that aside you have another problem. You have not read the advertising policy and seem to be unaware that
    we cannot advertise on wordpress.com blogs;
we cannot conduct business on wordpress.com blogs; and
we cannot use wordpress.com blogs to drive traffic to third party sites.
Doing these things can result in blog deletion.

You will have to remove the invitation for others to advertise on your blog from your About page and all other advertising except a single link to your business (see policy link above).

The differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org products, policies and services are found in the sticky post at the head of the forum titled: “Please read me first before posting” https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700
If you want a commercial and monetized blog then your best bet is to hire a webhost and have him download free software from http://wordpress.org

You can use the W3C markup validator help locate the problem is http://validator.w3.org/

there seems to be alot of things i can’t do on this blog. I luv the layouts but there are alot of scripts I can’t add, html tags that don’t work and so on unless I use php which I don’t. May have to rethink keeping my blog here. And again I have checked all my posts and the </font> is closed on each one. I will check into the validator. Thanks.

You’re getting a blog for free. Free hosting always comes with rules.

If you sign up for a hosted blog, such as at http://www.godaddy.com , you can do what you want to it, include use one of the hundreds of other themes out there and post as many affiliate or commercial links as you want.

I bet you have the <!–more–> tag as part of your italicized text.

I believe that what’s happening here is when the wp software parses the front page, and reads the <!–more–>, the close </em> tag gets cut off rendering only the opening tag.

If my guess is correct, try moving out the more tag outside your italicized paragraph and that should fix your problem.

By George, that was it!!! :). Thank you so much devblog for giving me a simple answer to my oh so complicated question. Once I get more funds into my bank account I will look into a host for my blog. Just starting out and alot of people like what I’m doing here and I really enjoy blogging so I’ll see. thanks again :).
