format issues in site title
-
Hi, I’m re-doing my site to prepare to add a bunch of new content.
I’m using Book Lite, and I want to adjust the spacing of my tagline (subtitle) of my Site Title. I’ve searched, tried inserting html, nothing works. I want the tagline to be two lines of text, but with a specific line break/spacing between them; meaning, for content reasons I need the first and second lines to not blend together. The words I’ve selected for the first line need to remain on line one, and the same for line two.
But it won’t let me insert a line break (hard return) or more than one blank space, in order to get the spacing/formatting just how I want it. I’ve spent hours going through every font that I like, in every size that would work for me, trying to tweak my wording a bit so that the content of my first line stays on the first line, and same for the second line. Helllllllpp!
How in the world can I do this? Seems it shouldn’t be rocket surgery, but maybe it is…The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The only way to do this with CSS is to add the 2nd line manually using the “content” property. Here is an example that you can try out in your Appearance > Customize > CSS editor:
.site-description:after { content: "2nd line goes here"; display: block; } -

Hi, I am incredibly new to wordpress (like 5 hours), and to blogging in general. So far it seems straightforward apart from the really technical stuff that I’m hoping never to have to need to deal with. The issue I have is with my title – I’m using the intergalactic theme and my title seems to be too long for the page and I can’t adjust it. My page is
regularcosmicdust.com
I’d be grateful for any help, thanks.

Welcome to WordPress.com!
I checked http://regularcosmicdust.com/ and I see the site title is currently “REGULARCOSMICDUST”
You can change that to something else by going to Appearance > Customize > Site Title in your dashboard, changing the text in the Site Title field, and then clicking the Save button at the bottom right.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I changed my theme from ‘intergalactic’ to ‘hemingway rewritten’ in order to fit all of my site title in.
I simply couldn’t get all the letters of my title to fit on the page using intergalactic, could you tell me how I might adjust that please?

I checked http://regularcosmicdust.com/ and the site title that says “REGULARCOSMICDUST ” looks to me like it fits. Or are you talking about the post title that says “Winter in Latin America – A Retrospective (Part 1)”? Could you walk me through exactly what you’re trying to change?

Hi @rarekid, the site title element in Intergalactic has a width setting of 1000px. You can make that go full-width by changing the width for .site-title to 100% like this:
.site-title { width: 100%; } @media screen and (max-width: 370px) { .site-title { font-size: 99%; } }The second rule above is a media query which makes the site title smaller at 370px and narrower screen sizes so that the site title is not cut off on phones in portrait orientation.
Try out the above changes and make sure and view things on a phone so you can see how thing look.
