format of blog posts

The theme is Snaps (if I am not mistaken). I was curious if there was a way to make it so that blog posts show up as a link with the title name, maybe a short excerpt and maybe a preview image. Then when you click it it, it takes you to a gallery (if there are multiple photos) and the entire post itself. I am not super website savy (so not super good with code). Any response is appreciated (even if this is not possible).

    Cheers!

  • Such a layout on Snaps would require CSS customization which would require a Premium or higher level plan.

If you already have this plan then you can reach out to the team of staff and volunteers that support CSS customization here:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

If you prefer not to upgrade to this plan for now then it might be better to choose a layout that would better suit what you’re looking for. I browsed through the theme gallery and found Illustratr, the demo site seems to be what you’re describing; you’ll even be able to add a Featured Image to display statically at the top of the home page just like you do now, but the title won’t overlay onto it.

  • You can achieve that effect in Snaps by adding the More tag wherever you want each post to break.

    No CSS needed.

Let us know how it goes!

@kathrynwp the more tag totally worked. The other thing I was doing incorrect was changing the type of post. I assumed that changing it to a gallery if there were many photos would format it in the way I was talking about. I changed it back to standard (along with the more tag) and it is exactly how I want it. Thank you!

  • Wonderful, glad you’re all set!
