Format of paragraphs, copying and pasting

The paragraphs that I want for my blog are the ones where there is that small gap in between the final sentence of the previous paragraph and the first sentence of the next one. Visually speaking, this format is by a long distance the one I prefer.

Throughout the time I’ve had a wordpress blog, all I needed to do was copy and paste my text from a microsoft word document and the text would immediately get formatting into that format of paragraphing. I didn’t need to worry at all, because it was all perfectly in place from the moment I pressed Ctrl+C.

But now sometimes this doesn’t happen. Sometimes the copy and paste works as it did before, without hassle. But sometimes, the formatting style is completely wrong: the paragraphs are sitting next to each other really closely, there’s no gap between the lines, much like you see where you read a book of prose.

What’s wrong here? Is there something up with the HTML on wordpress? Or has it got something to do with the setting on the microsoft word document (even though I’ve never messed around with these)?

I’m searching around in the link you posted, but I cannot find information about specifically *paragraph* formatting. The information in the link is stuff that doesn’t concern me, like tables and images.

WORD is not an HTML program. It speaks HTML the way I speak Mandarin, which is to say appallingly. If you like the way Word works, please consider switching to Windows Live Writer, which is free and keeps your formatting, because it IS web-compatible.
