Format of post titles has changed on the admin side

  Recently, the title of posts on the admin side for editing are showing in a downward line of one character per line. I tried seeing if I could adjust the column width but cannot, and have no idea how it went from appearing in a line across to a line down. It makes it very inconvenient when I re-blog and want to “edit” to give it categories and tags.

  Hi there,

  The menu vertical bar in your Dashboard can be collapsed so that it only shows icons, is that what is happening for you? If so, the bottom-most icon can be clicked to re-expand it and it will go back to normal.

  If not, would you mind taking a screen shot of your Dashboard and then uploading it to your Media Library so I can see what’s going wrong? Here’s some information about how to do a screenshot in case you’re not familiar with the process:

  Thanks for the reply. I don’t think it’s the menu bar that’s the problem. I’ll take the screenshot and upload it to the Media Library. Thanks for your help.

  I just uploaded the screenshot. It’s titled “For Word Press Support.”

  It’s the column for title names that is the problem.

  Ah! I see what you mean. That is part of how our responsive menus work. The title is like that because the width of your browser screen has been narrowed so far that your title has to be displayed only one character at a time. If you widen your browser a bit, you will see your title in a more typical way. :)

  I widened the browser, but then lost the left border, but I can work things out, (I think). It will just take some getting used to. I still can’t figure out why it happened when I had changed nothing. At least now I know to widen when looking for a post, and undo it for other things when I need to see the left border.

  We have recently performed a merge of features with the WordPress.org core set of code (a merge which is done about once a year). You may see a few different minor changes throughout the dashboard. This appears to be one of them.

  I’m sorry for this inconvenience and for not spotting it sooner!

  Ahhh. That explains it. Well, I’m a bit inconvenienced having to widen then undo it, but at least I know that’s what I have to do.
