Formatting a post
-
Hello. I’ve only been blogging for a few weeks and I can’s get post formatting to work in Twenty Ten. I create a new post ( add text and photo) and then select a format from the list of options on the right. However whenever I preview, my post never appears to look any different from the “standard” default selection. I’ve tried changing my browser to firefox, as suggested by wordpress.com support but that hasn’t made any difference.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What specific format changes are you trying for? The formats on the right are Post formats, not designed to save whatever formats you input in the post box. To hold the formatting you want in place, either format in the Text editor using HTML codes, or use a web compatible formatting program like Windows Live Writer.

I thought, having read the WordPress.com section on post formats that I could vary the look of individual posts by selecting different formats – eg image, gallery, quotes,
I don’t really understand the difference between a Post format and the post box. I’m not really up to playing around with HTML codes so I guess I’ll have to stick to the same standard format for all my posts.
Thanks anyway.

Previewing a post won’t show any difference: on most themes, different post formats mean some difference when you view the main posts page, not when you view a single complete post.
