Formatting and avatars

  Apologies if this has been asked already but I can’t see it anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a problem with their blogs in the last few hours or so? The CSS formatting on my blog seems to have disappeared; it’s just a blank page with plain text. And all the avatars have gone blank as well, except for a few which are gravatars.

  I’ve checked with other blogs and it’s the same on most of them. But it doesn’t seem to be impacting blogs which have the CSS upgrade; Sulz’s and Raincoaster’s are fine, while my blog, Muse’s and Stonehead’s all look the same.

  I’ve force reloaded and tried it in different browsers (IE and Firefox), all with the same result, so I can’t think of anything else on my end which might be doing it. I’m a little worried because I just had an increase in hits and I’m hoping they’re not seeing the same thing… so, has anyone else noticed it? Or am I just going crazy?

  Could it be that sulz and I have custom CSS? Do you?

  Sorry, duh. I’m on painkillers and apparently losing the ability to read for comprehension. I see you covered the CSS question. I think it must have been a momentary blip on the servers hosting your CSS, because all those blogs look fine to me now.

  Thanks Rain but I’m still seeing it. It looks fine if I click on the blog (say a post title) but when I reload the page or click to see a blog for the first time, the formatting disappears. I thought I might be pulling in an older version of the page and so tried clearing my cache again but it’s still doing it.

  I’m not sure what’s going on… I would have thought if it was something with WordPress then we’d have seen more accounts of it by now, but it’s not doing it with other sites I look at either… if it keeps up I’ll send an email once support opens.

  I’ve just checked and it seems to be working now; the background is back and all the avatars are as well. Not sure what (if anything) fixed it but I’m glad it’s normal again. I was starting to forget what my theme looked like. :)

  Now it looks like something else has changed: on my blog at least, people without avatars are showing in the Recent Comments widget without that grey head and shoulders avatar, which makes it look much nicer. I guess they were tinkering with this last night and you noticed the effects first.
