Formatting and Layout

How do I add a picture to the top of my home page? My theme is Superhero, and I am quite confused with how to work my blog. I am trying to add a full-width right underneath the menu bar of my blog which is shown in the preview for the theme. Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not a header image, it’s the posts slider. Theme intro and demo here:

Thank you for your speedy response, justpi. However, despite my viewing of the linked page and demo I still do not understand how to actually enable and choose the picture for the posts slider. I am very sorry, and I understand that I am very unexperienced when it comes to this.
Thanks

You’re welcome.
I could try to explain things, but anyway you can’t use the posts slider when you’ve only published one post, so we can postpone this.
And (judging from your first post) your blog doesn’t seem to be image oriented. You probably need a full-width header image more than you need the posts slider, so you probably need a different theme. -

I would suggest simply switching to a theme with a Custom header. You can use the themes search filter to find them.

We could recommend a theme if you asked for something unusual. But a header image isn’t an unusual feature at all. You can read about all themes and see them in action here:

Thank you both so much! I now have a great header image! Just one last thing. Is there anyway to make the header image the background for the actual text? And thank you for offering to help me with the post slider which I hope to later add.
Thanks again!

You’re welcome!
Bg to what text? the blog title and tagline or the main content?
By the way, the posts slider on Oxygen is less tricky than on Superhero.

It can’t be done directly. What you can do is use an image editing application to create a new version of the image, with the title and tagline on it (added advantage: they can be any font, size, style and color), then go to Appearance > Header, upload that image and uncheck the option “Show header text with your image”.

That’s very smart, thank you very much. If I do decide to go that route I will definitely use your prudent suggestion.
Thanks again for all the help!
