Formatting!! GAH!
-
hello again- first to the quick help i’ve always gotten in this forum
from time to time ive noticed after i edit & save a page/post i see weird formatting problems show up on my main page.
it is usually a string of html like text that i did not write & it appears as part of my post. usually i go back & delete it & just save, but its getting really annoying (see the most recent problem: http://socialjusticenow.wordpress.com/2008/10/27/the-controversial-survey/)
what is this caused by & how can I prevent it?
also i notice that sometimes other weird things happen, like the text size/font completely changed from the rest of webpage: (http://socialjusticenow.wordpress.com/2008/10/25/ballot-initiatives-friend-or-foe/)
any ideas/suggestions?
thanks,

So now the sidebar/ widgets have their formatting switched- any idea of how to fix this?

the font on the sidebar/widgets has changed- it is too big now & the words are cut off- I didn’t change this!!

I had a few problems with my side bar a while ago; my advice to you is to go through your posts one by one and find the one that’s creating the changes. There’s probably some excess HTML as you’ve been pasting from word that’s creating these changes. Since this has happened recently, I’d advise you go through your more recent posts.

This is a typical consequence of pasting from Word. It adds weird HTML you can’t see and while it may not cause an immediate problem it will lie latent until something sets it off, then things go completely haywire. If you like the formatting of Word, try using Windows Live Writer instead; it works very much the same, but posts to your blog seamlessly.
