FORMATTING LOST IN TRANSFER FROM MS WORD/EXCEL TO POSTING
-
I am trying to post tables from MS Word and Excel (2010) documents on my blog adpcineaste. When I cut and paste to the blog post, the formatting is lost and all I have is a jumble of words. This never happened on my previous blogs. It is urgent that I fix this problem because the blog is crucial to my teaching. I am using Chrome.

Hi there, sorry about this issue. Pasting from Word or other word processors is not recommended. They add formatting that can conflict with your WordPress.com theme and break it. Instead, use the Paste From Word tool to safely remove the formatting and paste the text. Read more about this here:

But WordPress has no way of creating tables! In my previous blogs, such as adpmcguffin.wordpress.com, I had no problem, but I wasn’t using MS Word 2010. Now, I can’t create very important tables.

Tables definitely won’t work when copied from recent versions of Word, due to their proprietary formatting. It’s important to note that Word is a word processor, not an HTML editor. The two are essentially speaking two different languages.
For Tables, I recommend using HTML tables, which you can build in the WordPress editor’s Text tab (not the Visual tab).

Unfortunately, not at this time. HTML tables or images are really the only way to go for table-like content.
