Formatting Not Displaying, Not a Word Issue!
-
Hello,
I’m new with WordPress, don’t know HTML, and can’t seem to get the content of my blog to display formatting. I’ve read that pasting from Word might be a problem, so I deleted my test post and tried just typing test content in and am STILL not able to display the formatting. It displays as one block of plain text. BTW I’m using the Travel Blogger theme, if that helps.
It looks like this in the dashboard:

I’m using the Travel Blogger theme
There is no such theme here at WordPress>COM.
These are the only themes we can use of WordPress.com blogs.

Okay, the images didn’t show up.
Please let me know what else I can do to help clarify the problem.

Let’s start with verifying exactly which blog URL you are referring to. Post it here please starting with http://

We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs being hosted right here on this multiuser blogging platform. WordPress.com and WordPress.org have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

I have literally spent a month trying to figure out WordPress. The frustration with this is beyond words. It would have been CHEAPER to pay somebody to create a site for me. Ready to quit.

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG just click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

I have both a .com and .org. I built an entire site before finding out there were 2 and I needed the .org. I’ve spent the entire day trying to figure out the formatting problem, and an hour just trying to figure out how to post a question, only to find out there are two support forums.
WordPress keeps calling itself easy. I have yet to see that.

Thank you for the link, timethief. I’ve been across this page several times and can NOT figure out where to ask a question. It lets you search the existing forums but doesn’t let you ask when you can’t find the answer.

Did you register a WordPress.ORG username account?

Hi,
I’ve had one all along. I mentioned that earlier in this chain.
I’ve finally figured out how to post in the .org forum but haven’t gotten any responses. It may not be worth my while to continue with WordPress due to the degree of difficulty with troubleshooting. I just don’t seem to be able to get answers in a reasonable amount of time.

While we can’t directly support self-hosted sites here since we do not have access to your account or your website if it’s not hosted on WordPress.com, here are a couple of links to the WordPress Codex that might help:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Writing_Posts
http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_Design_and_LayoutAnd here’s a link to our WordPress.com documentation on using Microsoft Word and WordPress:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/Note that if you are pasting in a block of text, you will need to use the editor buttons in the Visual editor (or HTML in the Text editor) to style it further.
