formatting of fractions in text
-
I use WordPress 4.0 running Twenty Ten theme. Prior to the most recent upgrade of WordPress to 4.0, when I typed a fraction in a post’s text, it would format as a single character, for example, ¼. But after that upgrade, it no longer formats that way but rather as multiple characters, for example, 1/4.
My blog is recipes, so I frequently use fractions, for example, 1/2 cup flour. This would be easier to read if it would format as ½ cup flour. Especially when I want to indicate so many servings of a certain size. For example, “4 1/2-cup servings” – does that mean 4 servings of 1/2-cup each? or one serving of 4.5 cups?. If it were formatted as “4 ½-cup servings” it would be more clear that it is 4 servings of 1/2-cup each.
I have checked the omega symbol for special characters, but no fractions are included there.
How can I get fractions to format as a single character? Do I need a plug-in?
