Formatting problem: pics & text will not properly space. Help?!

    @jfanega, you shouldn’t need to use HTML to edit a WordPress.com blog, however, you are just running into a typical web editing problem with floated images. When images are floated to the left, then the text (*and* other images) wraps around them. That’s why your images are getting stacked up in some cases. It just has to do with how web code works. It would be the same issue for any other web editing tool that uses CSS for alignment like WordPress.com does. Extra line returns won’t always work because the fonts may have different spacing on different computers, or on different views of the page, or in different editing views like you noticed when you previewed.

    Here are a couple ways to solve it:

    1. Use alignment of none or center for the images (no text wrapping)
    2. Use a little html before the secondary images (to clear the alignment floats)

    <br style="clear:both;" />

    You do need to insert that code snippet with the HTML editor though.

    Thank you all so much! I finally had the time to sit down and tackle this.

    I basically deleted all the text and started from scratch. I copied from my existing website and pasted as plain text. Then I used the two codes above (one to clear the formatting and the other to insert the space) and it worked! I can’t thank you all enough!

    Now I just need to know how to change this HIDEOUS font!! Anyone?? ;)

    This is the link to wordpress.com support documentation. Perhaps you would like to bookmark it for future use. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    I used the searchbox there and inserted the word “font”. Here are the results:

    (1) You can change the font size and color on each and every post and page http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

    (2) Porvided your have CSS editing experience as their is not Staff support for learning it you can purchase a CSS editing upgrade and make the changes required to change the font size and color throughout the blog.

    As there is no official support for the CSS upgrade, do not buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of CSS. Before buying the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > edit CSS and wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try out changes before you buy the upgrade.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/editing-css/

    Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

    Lastly, a new Typekit Fonts feature has appeared in our dashboards but there has been no official announcement of the feature and how to use it. I’m not clear as to whether this TypeKit Fonts is a free feature for all wordpress.com users or if it’s for those with the CSS upgrad. I’m also not clear if we simply get a free trial first and then have to pay for a subscription. As Staff are on holiday hours at present perhaps you would like to wait until the announcement is made to make your decision.
